As a result of ongoing heavy rainfall and river flooding, the State Emergency Service earlier today, ordered the evacuation of North Moree, Bendygleet, Yarraman, Binigy and Pallamallawa.
The township of Pallamallawa which is approximately 600 people, was oredered to evacuate earlier today, most people evacuated early to either family or friends or to the evacuation centre in Moree. The evacuation is now being completed by air for a small number of people isolated at Pallamallawa and Biniguy.
Precautionary evacuations of Wee Waa Hospital of 5 people are being undertaken as well as 20 people from the Nursing Home at Wee Waa.
Moree is also the focus, with North Moree including Bendygleet and Yarraman already recieving an evacuation order. Approximately 20,000 sandbags are currently being shipped to Moree to try and reduce the impact of floodwater.

When you are required to evacuate, the SES will issue an Evacuation Order advising people of what to do and where to go. There are a number of ways you might hear about the need to evacuate including, but not limited to, doorknock (by SES or other emergency service), through radio stations, or by automated telephone and/or SMS. You must evacuate immediately.
You should try to seek shelter with family or friends well away from flood impacted areas. In larger floods, evacuation centres may be established to help people affected by the flooding.
When you leave:
- Turn off the electricity and gas at the mains before you leave and turn off and secure any gas bottles
- Take your pets with you
- Never enter or travel through floodwater
- Keep listening to the radio station for information, updates and advice
- Follow your Home or Business FloodSafe Plan
- Follow all instructions given to you by emergency services
