A taxi passenger has been critically injured following an incident on the M4 in Sydney’s west tonight. About 8.20pm (Saturday 11 February), the woman was sitting in the rear passenger seat of a taxi travelling east along the M4 at Holroyd.
At a point near the Church Street off ramp the woman opened the taxi door and jumped from the moving vehicle. The woman, aged in her 20s, hit the road and suffered severe head injuries.
She has been taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Police have spoken with several separate motorists who saw the incident unfold, as well as the taxi driver. He has been taken to mandatory blood and alcohol tests as per standard procedure.
Two lanes of the M4 are closed while examinations take place but traffic delays are minimal.
